PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAM

OUR SYSTEM

Next Level Basketball’s Player Development Program is based on the Next Level Basketball System. The first pillar is that players participate in athletic development, skill development and club team components. The second pillar is that players are placed in groups based on skill level (Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3). The third pillar is the Next Level Basketball Standardized Curriculum (NLBSC), which is taught in six monthly increments in our skill development component.

OUR PROGRAM

The athletic development component of our program is headed by certified strength and conditioning coaches who specialize in speed, agility, and quickness training, as well as overall performance.

The purpose of athletic development is about performance as much as it is about long-term health. We want durable athletes who can withstand the rigors of modern basketball, which means our staff pays particular attention to the areas where basketball players are susceptible to injury, and takes a proactive approach to load management and injury prevention.

ATHLETIC
DEVELOPMENT

Our skill development component runs according to the Next Level Basketball Standardized Curriculum (NLBSC). This curriculum features six modules, taught in monthly increments that are split into weekly lessons.

Our skill development sessions utilize a blend of methodological approaches (see methodology here). Using dynamic training methods such as the games-based and constraints-led approaches, our coaches create opportunities for exploration and critical thinking, while strategically intervening with traditional approaches to complement that.

SKILL
DEVELOPMENT

Our Club teams compete locally in reputable leagues such as AAU. Our goal is to find a safe and healthy balance between training and game play, so that players are growing every season.

We ask our coaches to develop players in six phases of the game, which are half-court offense and defense, transition offense and defense, and press offense and defense. We look at this through the lens of S.A.D.A, or Situations, Actions, Decisions and Anticipation. We want our players to progress through that framework successfully, which will prepare them to any situation, from conceptual systems to rigid, rules-based systems.
